Milwaukee convenience store sells two $1M Powerball tickets
MILWAUKEE - A convenience store on Milwaukee's south side has sold two $1 million Powerball tickets for the same drawing.
Owner Dennis Thompson found out Wednesday evening after the 10:00 p.m. lottery number announcement that his Mobil location on the 3800 block of South Howell Avenue sold the two winning tickets.
"Very, very surprised," Thompson told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi. "It doesn't happen very often."
He said Thursday morning that a regular customer who works close by already claimed the $1 million prize. As of 10:00 a.m., they had yet to hear from the second winner.
Thompson explains that he's going to try to attract more lottery customers by advertising that he's had "two $1 million tickets at the same station in a relatively short period of time, we're going to promote that as much as possible."
The Wisconsin Lottery says a woman from Whitehall won two $1 million prizes on the same ticket.
A store in Chilton also had a $1 million prize winner from Wednesday's drawing.
Wednesday's winning numbers were 3, 7, 21, 28 and 43, with the Powerball of 2.
The odds of winning $1 million in a Powerball drawing are greater than 1 in 5 million.
