Brewers solve problem for disabled fan wanting Chorizo statue
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers gave away 2,000 Chorizo lawn ornaments in the "Where's Chorizo?" event around Miller Park Tuesday morning.
One man who cannot walk long distances says he wasn't allowed to get close enough to participate, but the Brewers eventually took care of his needs.
Jim Friedland has a handicapped tag on his car and didn't think he'd have a problem getting to the "Where's Chorizo" event.
But when he tried to park, he found a problem.
"I said, 'Can I get any closer? I can't walk.' (The attendant) said no," Friedland told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Michelle Richards.
People were only allowed to park in the Molitor lot at Miller Park before being led to the locations of the Chorizo giveaway.
He says he tried parking in more than one area, but finally gave up and went home.
"I was kind of (expletive). I was pretty mad," expressed Friedland.
Newsradio 620 WTMJ put Friedland in touch with Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger.
"He told me what had happened. I apologized on behalf of the organization. I said I would send him out a Chorizo today, and I am staring at the one with his name on it," said Schlesinger.
He said the Brewers are looking into the situation to make sure it doesn't happen again.
