MILWAUKEE- New information on this big crash at the War Memorial Center.  The driver who crashed through the front door last month is charged with drunk driving.

Rosalin Rodriguez was driving nearly three times the legal limit.  The level considered evidence of intoxication for drivers in Wisconsin is 0.08.

The damage still isn't fixed.  It's a work in progress after the car smashed through the center's large glass window and became wedged in the middle of the stairs.

"We are really moving along quickly," said David Drent, executive director of the War Memorial Center.

Drent tells TODAY'S TMJ4 the rush is on to make sure everything is repaired by Memorial Day.

"This has to be open and ready for Memorial Day because there is a bunch of activity that happens down here," said Drent.

The cost is now estimated at $300,000!

"There's a lot of floor work, a lot of terrazzo work and it's specialty work," said Drent.

The hope is to recover the cost from the person charged with drunk driving.

To prevent another crash, the War Memorial Center may add large blocks of granite to protect the front entrance.  "And have each piece tell a story," said Drent, maybe individually about a conflict or a collective story.  But I think it would enhance the people experience when they come up in front of the building."

For now Milwaukee County's insurance is covering the cost.
