Woman faces OWI charges after crash into Milwaukee War Memorial
MILWAUKEE - A woman faces drunk driving charges Monday after her car plowed into the Milwaukee County War Memorial.
Rosalin Rodriguez, 26, faces two counts including an alleged third instance of operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration.
She faces up to one year in the Milwaukee County Jail if she is convicted. She also would not be allowed to drive for up to three years and could face up to $6,000 in fines due to a penalty enhancer.
Rodriguez has two prior convictions for OWI, in 2006 and 2010.
The crash happened on April 14th. TODAY'S TMJ4 video shows that the car Rodriguez allegedly was driving went through the War Memorial's windows and lobby, and it ended up in the building's stairwell.
According to the criminal complaint, a police officer says he smelled alcohol on Rodriguez's breath, and "observed her eyes to be bloodshot and glassy."
The crash led to cuts in Rodriguez's face, so she was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
A nurse took a sample of her blood for analysis. The criminal complaint says she had a blood alcohol concentration of .22, nearly three times the legal driving limit.
