Walker calls recall primary turnout for him 'good sign for June 5th'
MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker said Wednesday that his supporters were galvanized to vote for him in a primary where he faced only a protest candidate.
"I think it's a good sign for June 5th, but we cannot let up," said Walker about the estimated 626,000 people who voted for him on Tuesday night.
Walker was a guest on Newsradio 620 WTMJ's "Midday with Charlie Sykes."
"This is how many people...who said 'I feel that passionately. I am so pumped up, sending a message,' "
Walker claimed there was no major effort to try to get voters out to support him in the primary against Arthur Kohl-Riggs, who garnered about three percent of the vote.
He also said that there was little media focus.
"It was seemingly, to the media at least, a meaningless primary."
He told Sykes that people came up to him Tuesday, not knowing he was facing an opponent in the primary.
