Bob Ryan pleads not guilty to sex assault charges
SHEBOYGAN - Sheboygan's former mayor pleaded not guilty to sexual assault charges in court Monday.
Bob Ryan was at a hearing Monday on sexual assault charges after prosecutors say he inappropriately put his hands on a woman while at a bar in Elkhart Lake last year.
That was during his now-infamous binge drinking episode that led to his removal as Sheboygan's mayor in late February.
The judge required that Bob Ryan go through the booking process, post a $1,500 signature bond and to maintain sobriety as a condition of bail, according to TODAY'S TMJ4. He'll be back in court in August.
Ryan declined comment afterward except to say he pleaded not guilty -- "That means innocent."
Ryan was voted out of office in a recall election Feb. 21 and charged in April. He has acknowledged he's an alcoholic but has said he has been sober since the incident in Elkhart Lake.
