South Milwaukee student has whooping cough
SOUTH MILWAUKEE - Another student in the Milwaukee area has contracted the whooping cough.
The superintendent of the South Milwaukee School District has confirmed that an 8th-grade student has a confirmed case.
"They have not been in school at all this week," superintendent Rita Olson tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi.
She explained that the district has taken pro-active steps to inform parents of the case, give them guidance on what symptoms to watch for, and what to do if their children show those symptoms.
"We sent a phone message home to all parents yesterday from the middle school, informing them we did have a confirmed case, and a letter from the city health department is going home this afternoon," said Olson.

"If they see any of these symptoms, they should contact the city health department or their family physician."
