Wanggaard reports raising $157,000 in recall fight
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Sen. Van Wanggaard has raised about $157,000 since January in his campaign to survive a recall election in June.
The GOP lawmaker from Racine now has more than $191,000 in cash on hand. That's according to financial documents filed with the state elections board Monday.
Wanggaard is one of four state senators facing a recall for supporting a bill that restricted certain collective-bargaining rights.
Wanggaard is expected to face former state Rep. John Lehman of Racine in the recall election June 5. Lehman first has to defeat Tamra Varebrook, a fake Democrat from Union Grove who is only running to force a Democratic primary.
The candidates' current financial-disclosure reports are due by Monday at midnight. Lehman's report has not yet been filed.
