N.J. Governor Christie to campaign for Walker
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (AP) -- Gov. Chris Christie is headed to Wisconsin to campaign for fellow Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who faces a recall election that has become a national showdown over union rights.
Christie will help raise money and appear at a rally for Walker on Tuesday. The recall election is in June.
Walker's decision to eliminate most collective-bargaining rights for public employee unions ignited a political war that has left Wisconsin as polarized as any state in the country.
Christie says he frequently supports candidates with whom he occasionally disagrees.
In New Jersey, Christie has picked a protracted fight with the public teachers union and has forced pension and health care concessions from union workers through legislation.
