Two Wisconsin women dead in two fires
RACINE, Wis. (AP) - Two women have died in separate house fires, one in Chippewa Falls and the other in Racine.
Chippewa County authorities say 59-year-old Kathleen Lindsey died Friday of apparent smoke inhalation.
An Eau Claire Leader-Telegram report (http://bit.ly/IyXQyO ) says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Also on Friday, a 56-year-old Racine woman who was hooked up to an oxygen tank died after a fire started in her apartment bedroom.
A Journal Times of Racine report (http://bit.ly/IjTz57 ) says her name hasn't been released.
Fire Lt. Jeff Perkins says the fire was small, but he adds that firefighters who opened her door were met with "very thick black smoke."
Perkins says there are no signs of foul play. He speculates the fire may have been accidental.
