WAUKESHA - Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus will not seek re-election this fall.

In a statement, Nickolaus says she will step down on December 31st.

Nickolaus says, "I want to thank the people of Waukesha County for the opportunity to serve them for the last ten years... Much has been accomplished during this time. I also want the people of Waukesha County to know I will continue to serve them as clerk until the end of my term."

Nickolaus has been criticized for a series of election blunders, especially in last year's Supreme Court race.

There were also lengthy delays in posting results in the April 3 elections--some results not available until 10 hours after the polls closed.

Nickolaus has served as Waukesha County Clerk for the past 10 years, winning 3 countywide elections.
