Thousands welcome Honor Flight veterans home
MILWAUKEE - The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight left Saturday morning from Mitchell International Airport for its first trip of 2012.
The WE Energies Stars and Stripes Honor Flight took 112 veterans of World War II on a one day trip to Washington D.C. to see their memorials.
Thousands of people attended the official public Homecoming Celebration at Mitchell International Airport.
To date, SSHF has taken 1,800 World War II Veterans from southeast Wisconsin to see the World War II Memorial and other memorials in Washington D.C.
The trip is completely free to veterans.
