MILWAUKEE- A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy makes an unusual rescue on Highway 45 Friday night.

The video captured the attention of TODAY'S TMJ4's newsroom Friday night.

A sheriff's deputy making a good natured stop, met resistance from two geese -- and DOT cameras caught it all.

At first glance, the video looks like any other traffic stop.  Then you see the culprits: A family of geese.

Mom and dad leading their goslings along the shoulder at Highway 45 and Burleigh Ave.

A sheriff's deputy parks, darts out of her car -- shooing the family out of the road.  Only, they don't care to listen.  Instead, the geese huddled along the bridge wall as traffic backs up.

Then DOT cameras roll as the deputy tries to talk some sense into mama goose.

When the parents don't budge, backup arrives.

Finally, the birds make it to the grass as traffic begins to sneak up and squad cars move to block the birds from returning to the road.

But mama goose has had enough when the deputy returns to guide them away.  The mama goose lunges at the deputy -- knocking her to the ground

The whole thing took less than five minutes.

The sheriff's department said they do occasionally stop traffic to move geese, saying it's safer for them to control traffic than traffic dodging the birds.
