Fire, small explosion at Mercury Marine
FOND DU LAC - The Fond du Lac Fire Department said it responded to what it called a small explosion and fire at the Mercury Marine plant there.
The incident happened at about 10:45 a.m. at the plant, located on the 500 block of West Pioneer Road in Fond du Lac.
No one was hurt. A part of the plant was evacuated.
According to the fire department, the explosion happened when employees were pouring alloy melted molten aluminum.
That aluminum then shot 25 feet to the building's ceiling.
According to the fire department, plant officials expected to re-start operation after investigating the exhaust system.
