Deadline day for Democrats in Walker recall eleciton
MADISON - Deadline day has arrived for Democrats who want to run in a recall election against Governor Scott Walker.
Those Democrats must turn in their nomination papers to the Government Accountability Board by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, longtime Secretary of State Dog La Follette and Alma State Senator Kathleen Vinehout were all expected to turn in their nomination papers before the end of the day.
This is Barrett's third try at the Governor's race.
"I stand before you...as a person who has brought this city together. Now, it's our challenge to bring this state together," said Barrett after winning last week's election for Milwaukee mayor.
Congressman David Obey endorsed Barrett for governor on Monday.
Meanwhile, Falk is making sure her message gets across to voters.
"I have a proven track record. I have ideas."
Filings were to begin as early as 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Gov. Walker was campaigning in Dane and Eau Claire on Tuesday.
The Democratic recall primary has been scheduled for May 8th, with the general election on June 5th.
