Gingrich stresses ties to Wisconsin in campaign swing
MILWAUKEE- Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is drawing on local connections as he campaigns in Wisconsin despite long odds of a victory on Tuesday.
The former House speaker addressed college students at Marquette University in Milwaukee on Thursday during the first of three days in Wisconsin.
He stressed that his wife, Callista, is from the state and that the couple owns a tiny slice of the beloved Green Bay Packers, a franchise held by public stockholders.
But Gingrich lags in the polls, far behind Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.
The Gingrich event lacked any trappings of a campaign rally. Instead, he delivered a lecture on government innovation that he thinks would inspire an entrepreneurial renaissance.
