HALES CORNERS - The nearly two-week search for Tom Hecht united a community, and on Wednesday that community mourned his loss at a wake and funeral.
Friends and family gathered at Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners to remember Hecht, who was 28-years-old.
On March 10th, he had gone missing after a night of drinking with friends on Water Street in downtown Milwaukee.
Family and friends used word of mouth, billboards and social media to galvanize thousands in the effort to find him.
Someone found him last Thursday in the Milwaukee River, just blocks from his home in Riverwest.
His wake started at 4:00 p.m., with the funeral at 7:00 p.m.
