Middle school coach plans to fight allegations of burning players
WHITEHALL, Wis. (AP) -- A basketball coach at a Trempealeau County middle school says he plans to fight allegations of child abuse after some players were burned with dry ice.
Forty-two-year-old Brady Olson of Ettrick says he's in shock over the felony child-abuse charge. He says to have his name associated with child abuse is "devastating," and he expects to be fully exonerated.
A criminal complaint says the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau chemistry teacher used dry ice to blow off a garbage-can lid and cause water to shoot from a bottle during practice. He says he was trying to make practice fun
Prosecutors say one 13-year-old girl had a dime-size burn mark on her inner thigh.
A La Crosse Tribune report (http://bit.ly/GKrm26 ) says two other adult coaches at practice told police they saw no misconduct.
