Hecht death ruled accidental
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of Tom Hecht an accident.
Meanwhile, word has been spreading on Water Street that Hecht's body was found in the Milwaukee River Thursday morning.
"It's really scary how something like this can happen," said Rayna Andrews.
Dive teams pulled a man's body from the river late Thursday morning after someone passing by spotted it.
"We were hoping for a positive outcome of some kind, a better outcome," said Tom Jaeck. "But we found Tom. They found Tom."
The day Hecht went missing, he and his friends celebrated St. Patrick's Day a week early in a pub crawl.
His friends say he was going to either walk home or call a taxi. Authorities say for hecht to get home he likely would have had to cross a footbridge near where his body was found.
Hecht's family and friends held search parties looking for any sign of him in downtown. Their plea to find him also online and even billboards.
But now the searchers are relieved to know Tom Hecht is finally home.
