Frank Jude Jr.: I still don't trust police
MILWAUKEE- A man who was beaten by off-duty Milwaukee officers more than seven years ago says his recent $2 million settlement doesn't change his distrust for Milwaukee police.
Frank Jude Jr. told reporters Tuesday he's physically healed, but he still suffers nightmares and flashbacks from the 2004 attack. He says he moved from Milwaukee to Oshkosh because he doesn't feel safe around Milwaukee police anymore.
Seven former officers were convicted in the beating, which occurred outside an off-duty police party in Milwaukee. The attack left Jude's face bloody and swollen.
Jude says he apologizes to Milwaukee taxpayers for the size of the settlement, but he says the amount is fair considering his degree of suffering.
The money will be taken out of a reserve city account budgeted for damages and claims.
