Marquette spirit, t-shirt sales rise with Sweet 16 appearance
MILWAUKEE - March Madness has become Marquette madness with their men's basketball team reaching the NCAA Sweet 16.
The Marquette Spirit Shop, inside the student union, is a busy place with Sweet 16 gear coming in fast, and selling out fast.
"It's a little bit manic," said Jim Graeber, the MU Spirit Shop's Director or Merchandise.
"It's kind of crazy. Everything has to be done really quickly. It's one of those hot market issues. Time is of the essence.
Senior Amy DeRusha came for a t-shirt.
"Being a senior here, and going to the Sweet 16, you couldn't ask for more right now," explained Amy.
"My bracket is done, so I don't really care about anything besides...Go Marquette!" exclaimed MU freshman Eric Howell.
It's the second season in a row Marquette has made the Sweet 16, and the third since 2003 - when they most recently made the Final Four.
"I think Marquette's a scrappy team. They do well. I think we're going. I really feel we're going," said Graeber.
