Weather blamed for school bus crash in Walworth; student hospitalized
WALWORTH- Friday's weather is being blamed for a school crash in Walworth County that left one student hospitalized, according to Capt. Scott McClory of the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
Five high school students from Big Foot High School and the driver were on board the bus when it crashed on Beloit Road near Prairie View Road around 2:58 p.m. Friday. One student was taken to the hospital with a minor head injury, while the other other four were transported back to the high school where they were picked up by their parents, according to a press release by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
The bus had been traveling westbound when the driver lost control of the bus, entered the eastbound lane then entered a ditch. The bus was found on its side.
The investigation is open and ongoing at this time.
Authorities haven't released any details about the status of the bus driver.
