Badgers name Kohl Center rink after Bob Johnson
MADISON - The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department says that it will be naming the ice rink at the Kohl Center after one of its legendary former coaches.
The Badgers men's and women's teams will play on Bob Johnson Rink at the Kohl Center.
The team gave the name in honor of the men's coach who led Wisconsin to three NCAA championships while coaching Wisconsin for 15 seasons.
“It is a tremendous pleasure for our department to be able to name the Kohl Center ice for Bob Johnson,” said UW Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez in a statement. “It is a well-deserved recognition of a Badger legend.”
Johnson also coached in the NHL and directed U.S. squads in the Olympic Winter Games and World Championships.
