Pennsylvania man inducted into Packers Fan Hall of Fame
GREEN BAY - A man who lives in Pennsylvania, but whom the Packers say became a "cheesehead" by marriage and a subsequent trip to Lambeau Field, is now the newest member of the Packers Fan Hall of Fame.
Rick Steele, from Greensburg, Pa., was announced Tuesday as the 14th member of that club after a month-long fan vote.
The Packers say that he first traveled from Pennsylvania to Lambeau Field for a game with his wife Kristi in 2003, and became hooked ever since.
“I had been a casual football fan my whole life, but there was just something that I absolutely fell in love with about Green Bay and the Packers," said Steele in his letter cited in a statement by the team.
"That was the start of what has become my life and three full rooms that are dedicated to nothing but the Packers…Even though we are over 700 miles away, win or lose, we are green and gold FOREVER! Go Pack Go.”
