MILWAUKEE- New information about a former Scott Walker aide who was indicted in a John Doe investigation.
The Journal Sentinel reports that Tim Russell was fired from a previous job for misusing public money.
Tim Russell is already accused of stealing more than $20,000 from a veterans charity while he was a close aide to then-County Executive Scott Walker. Russell was charged earlier this month with embezzlement. He's also charged with taking money from campaign accounts from two county board candidates.
TODAY'S TMJ4 is learning that Russell was fired from a state job for "gross misconduct", according to his personnel file obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
In 1993, Russell was fired after submitting more than $1,100 in improper charges while working at WHEDA - the state's housing and economic development authority. The Journal Sentinel reports the charges where for hotel stays in Madison.
Records show he "provided false or misleading information to us."
