MILWAUKEE- A judge has ruled that a Milwaukee woman accused of killing a pregnant woman and trying to steal her unborn baby is mentally competent and will stand trial.

Annette Morales-Rodriguez has pleaded insanity to two counts of intentional homicide, including homicide of an unborn child. She faces life in prison if convicted.

The Associated Press reports a hearing was held Friday and two different doctors ruled the 33-year-old does not show signs of a mental defect or disability.

She's accused of killing 23-year-old Maritza Ramirez-Cruz Oct. 6 and slicing out the baby boy in hopes of passing off the child as her own. The boy also died.

A motion hearing is set for March 8 and a trial date is set for April 30.
