MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office has charged Chasity Lewis, 18, with second degree reckless homicide, with use of a dangerous weapon, in the death of 16-year-old Bradley Tech H.S. student Roderrick Capehart.

Lewis says that she drove Capehart and three other people to 19th and Finn Tuesday evening.  Lewis claims she went to get change from a corner store near Teutonia Ave. around 8:30 p.m.

After getting the change, and after walking out of the store, she saw Shavar Williams and three people, including Roderrick Capehart, in a nearby alley.

Williams told Lewis he wanted to buy 8 bags of marijuana for $40.  One of the people pulled out some cash and was counting it in front of her.

At that time, the criminal complaint states Lewis pulled out her marijuana to show that it was real and that one of the individuals then punched her in the face and Roderrick Capehart jumped on top of her.

Lewis stated that Capehart slid off of her back and then she took out her pistol, put it to his chest and pulled the trigger.

Lewis stated that she did in fact shoot the victim and that she did so because she did not want to get her money or her marijuana taken from her and that she knew that the individuals were not trying to rape her or kill her.

Upon conviction for this offense, a Class D Felony, Lewis could be fined $100,000, or imprisoned for up to 30 years.

  1. You here this all the time, where are the parents? How does a kid get a gun? The parents should be held just as much responsible.
