Milwaukee County Transit unveils new buses today, new routes start tomorrow
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Transit System will unveil the new MetroEXpress Routes with the assistance of the Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell today. The special ceremony will include revealing the look of the new service and an inaugural ride.
The new lines start tomorrow, and there will also be changes to seven routes.
The 3 MetroEXpress Service lines are:
- RedLine service along Capitol Drive between 124th Street and UWM
- BlueLine service between Fond du Lac and National Avenues
- GreenLine service between Bayshore Town Center and Mitchell International Airport
MCTS will also add Route 56 (Greenfield Avenue) and Route 52 (Clement Avenue).
It said it would make changes to Routes 15, 23, 54. 62 and 63 while moving service on routes 11, 18 and 68 to other routes.
Managing Director of Milwaukee County Transit System, Lloyd Grant, Jr. says, "The three express service routes will help MCTS better meet the needs of bus riders and the community through improved air quality, faster service and increased capacity for the level of demand in these high ridership corridors."
