Drivers ignoring speed limits at Appleton and Keefe

MILWAUKEE- With a new Speedbuster on the beat, it seemed like a good time for a lesson from the experts.
So Steve Chamraz set out with Milwaukee Police Officer Elvis Lock to see how the pros slow 'em down.
They staked out the corner of Appleton and Keefe on Milwaukee's north side -- a wide stretch of Appleton Avenue that has a 35 mile per hour limit.
Officer Lock said its a limit that's often ignored.
"My personal experience has been I can sit here and get cars all day," Lock said.
Within minutes, Lock had a speeder in his sights -- travelling 52 in a 35.
But stopping speeders was not the only reason for the ride-along.
Police take a lot of things into consideration when deciding who gets pulled over, so we wanted to pick Officer Lock's brain about how police decide who gets a ticket.
"I'll usually start about 15 miles over and adjust it from there, depending on the flow of traffic," Lock said.
He admitted the rules are different with every officer and in every situation.
Speeders in a residential zone will be held to a stricter limit.
In a school zone, there is almost zero tolerance for speeding.
