MILWAUKEE- Major developments in a case involving allegations of voter fraud.

It also involved an apartment building owned by state Senator Lena Taylor.

TODAY'S TMJ4's can confirm the City Neighborhood Services is investigating, "The Lovehouse" for possible code violations. The big question still remains, how many people are living under that one roof and registered to vote?

It's called the "Lovehouse," and it's an apartment building owned by state Senator Lena Taylor.

The state senator's mom lives there, along with others who are part of her religious community.

Apparently, a lot of them vote. 36 voters are registered at the address. 23 voted in the closely contested State Supreme Court race in April. 11 registered the day of the election. Election records show Lena J. Taylor, the senator's mother, vouched for at least seven of those voters.

Rick Esenberg teaches election law at Marquette University, he told the TODAY'S TMJ4, "I think given the number of people involved given the connection between the property and a elected official these are questions I think the public deserves a answer for." Esenberg also says, "I think the number of people who were there raises some questions that need to be answered".

The home acts as a religious shelter. State Senator Taylor says that allows it to house more people than the suggested city code of 18.

TODAY'S TMJ4 has learned the city is now investigating the property for possible code violations.

In an interview with Charles Benson last week, Senator Taylor denied anything illegal is going on, telling TODAY'S TMJ4, "If people live there and they register and they vote, how is that inappropriate."

TODAY'S TMJ4 have put a request into Senator Taylor's office asking her to take TODAY'S TMJ4 into the home and show us how many people are living there and how it is set up. TODAY'S TMJ4 hasn't heard back from her yet or the Milwaukee DA's office about whether or not they are investigating the allegations of voter fraud.

  1. DA, Milwaukee, Vote FRAUD, are you serious?
  2. What does voting have to do with the code violations of a building? Is this a way to discredit votes, the people having to live there I'm sure are suffering from the economic distress of this economy and we want to deny their right to vote? REALLY!!!
  3. 36 people use the same address as a home address and we shouldn't ask ourselves "are these legit"?? Let the woman stand on her merits. If she's done nothing wrong, the evidence will show.
