Watchdog group says donors exceeded contribution limits
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A government watchdog group is alleging that 29 donors exceeded the $10,000 limit on contributions to candidates for office in Wisconsin last year.
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign filed a complaint Wednesday citing the violation it says were uncovered through campaign finance reports. The complaint was filed with the Government Accountability Board.
Twenty four of the donors gave most or all of the money to Republican candidates and five gave most or all to Democrats.
The complaint says the largest donor was Robert Fettig, president of metal fabricating company Tankcraft, who gave $16,150. The second largest was Judith Couri, an executive with Couri Insurance Agency in Waukesha, who gave $16,100.
