Cat hoarder facing multiple charges of animal neglect, works as Vet Tech
SHEBOYGAN- A woman from Sheboygan woman charged with 50 counts of animal neglect, but wait until you find out what she does for a living.
Deb Florian faces more than four dozen charges for not taking care of a house full of cats, dogs, and birds. But her job is to take care of pets.
She works at the Sheboygan Falls Veterinary Service. TODAY'S TMJ4's Annie Scholz went there to see what they had to say.
Dr. Carolyn Dell of the Sheboygan Falls Veterinary Service says, "She (Deb Florian) is a hard working person and she is excellent with animals."
Dr. Carolyn Dell says Florian would never intentionally hurt an animal.
Dr. Dell told TODAY'S TMJ4, "Animals are her whole life and I'm sure she got in over her head by taking in 40 unwanted cats."
However, many of the cats suffered upper respiratory problems, ear mites, and were severely underweight. Several had to be put down.
Dr. Dell made it clear she's not concerned about any of her patients in Florian's care. She argues it's more about hoarding than harming animals.
"You stand by her...I have to," Dr. Dell told TODAY'S TMJ4.
The remaining cats are at the Sheboygan County Humane Society. They are getting the treatment they need and TODAY'S TMJ4 is told they on the road to recovery.
