Mayor Barrett and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon enter friendly wager over NLDS
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon entered into a friendly wager on behalf of their respective baseball teams in the upcoming five-game playoff series, which begins on Saturday at Miller Park.
When the Brewers and Diamondbacks face off this weekend at Miller Park, a spot in the playoffs won't be the only thing at stake. Mayor Barrett put up a Milwaukee Public Market gift basket and Mayor Gordon put up a Phoenix Public Market gift basket.
"Brewer fans have waited a long time for this," said Mayor Barrett. "The whole city is behind the Brew Crew as they face off against the Diamondbacks, and when the Crew wins, I look forward to sharing the fine, specialty products that come in the Phoenix Public Market Basket."
It has been a historic season for the Brewers as they set records for regular season wins and fan attendance.
Mayor Barrett is encouraging all fans to keep the support going and "root-root-root" for the Crew all through the playoffs. "This season has been great for the team and great for Milwaukee. Let's keep this train moving. Next stop - World Series City!"
