New USS Milwaukee to be announced
MILWAUKEE - Federal and city officials were to announce plans for a new USS Milwaukee ship.
Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett were to hold a news conference at Discovery World on Tuesday afternoon to announce the ship naming.
It is set to be part of the Navy's new smaller class of combat ship.
Boat builders in Marinette are set to produce the ship.
It is expected to be delivered to the Navy in 2014.
