Menasha Police to stop search for Laura Depies' remains
MENASHA - Town of Menasha police have come up empty in their search for a missing woman's remains in south-central Wisconsin.
Authorities had been following up on a confession by convicted kidnapper Larry DeWayne Hall. He gave investigators information suggesting that he killed Laurie Depies 19 years ago, and told them where they could find her remains.
Police Lt. Michael Krueger says authorities have been searching the undisclosed site but found nothing. He says that unless they get more specific information they're calling off the search.
Krueger says he still thinks Hall is the killer. He says parallel investigations in other part of the country could eventually prove that.
Hall told The Associated Press in May that mental illness drove him to kill Depies.
