Shots fired during attempted armed robbery at Potawatomi Bingo Casino
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Police are searching for clues involving what Milwaukee Police say was an attempted armed robbery involving shots fired at a security guard at Potawatomi Bingo Casino on Monday morning.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Melissa McCrady reports that the man stole a money box inside the casino, and as a security guard approached him, he fired shots in the parking lots and fled the scene.
Flashing police lights surrounded the casino at about 3:00 a.m. Monday after, police say, the man tried to rob the casino.
McCrady reports that he held a gun up to the vault's main banker, demanding keys to the lock box.
She refused and ran away, but he was still able to grab a money box.
Police then said the robber ran for the door, dropped the money and made it to his SUV.
He came to face to face with a security guard, then opened fire.
No one was hurt, but the robber was able to get away.
The robber fled in a black Ford Explorer without a license plate, heading onto I-94 toward Chicago.
"The safety and security of our guests is our top priority," a Potawatomi spokesperson told TODAY'S TMJ4's Melissa McCrady.
Police believe he acted alone.
