Wis. Dem senators have cash advantage in recalls

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Spending reports for three state Senate recall elections show the incumbent Democrats with substantial financial advantages over their Republican challengers.
The three Democrats have each raised at least $130,000 and have at least $140,000 cash on hand. None of the Republicans has reported raising more than $35,000 in the current period.
In documents filed this week with state election officials, tea party leader Kim Simac of Eagle River reports raising about $22,000. Combined with a previous cash balance, that gives her about $54,000 cash on hand.
She'll face Lincoln County Board chair Bob Lussow in a primary next week. He reported raising $350. The winner takes on Sen. Jim Holperin.
Targeting Sen. Bob Wirch are Kenosha attorney Jonathan Steitz, who has about $12,000 in the bank, and Kenosha County Board vice chairman Fred Ekornaas, who has about $450.
Recall organizer David VanderLeest tells The Associated Press he raised $2,000 and has about $300 cash on hand in his bid to unseat Sen. Dave Hansen.
