Eight-year-old West Allis boy dies from injuries sustained in bicycle accident
POLK - A West Allis boy is dead after a fatal bicycle accident Sunday afternoon in Washington County.
The Washington County Sheriff's Department says the boy was visiting a relative's house on the 4700 block of Maple Grove Drive in the Town of Polk at about 5:30 p.m. when the incident happened.
Deputies say he was riding his bike and tried to turn into the relative's driveway.
They say he turned too quickly, hit a 12-inch high rock fence and was vaulted into the air.
His neck then came down on the bike's unprotected handlebars.
Officials say he wasn't wearing a helmet.
He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The boy's name is being withheld pending notification of next kin.
