GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- High winds in northern Wisconsin have led to power outages to nearly 12,000 customers.

Wisconsin Public Service says the winds have caused branches to break or trees to fall on power lines.

As of early Wednesday morning, 8,500 customers in Minocqua and about 1,300 in Wabeno were without power. Outages were also reported in Eagle River and Rhinelander.

The utility says extra crews have been called in to assist with power restoration.
