MADISON - Emotions ran high at the Capitol Building after Governor Scott Walker gave his budget address.
An angry crowd of protesters chased down and surrounded Republican West Bend Senator Glenn Grothman as he tried to get into the building.
Protesters pinned Grothman against a door, while others yelled "Shame, Shame, Shame."
Madison Democratic Representative Brett Hulsey jumped into the crowd to help Grothman, who couldn't get into his locked door.
"Glenn Grothman and I could not disagree on more things, but he is my friend and he is a good person," said Hulsey.
"As some of these people sense defeat, which is going to come in the near future, they become angrier and angrier, and that's what we saw today," explained Grothman.
Upset protesters also chased down another lawmaker in the Capitol Rotunda.
They vowed not to leave until collective bargaining is placed back on the table.
"I'm not going anywhere," said Jamie Domini, a teacher from Madison.
House minority leader Peter Barca said the unrest showed the need for compromise.
"This state has never been more divided, and a leader is supposed to bring people together, and that is what I'm hoping (Walker) will come to realize and act upon that."
