Packers-Bears: GB Fans Rally In Chicago
Today: NFC Championship Game at Chicago
Packers Gameday at 12:00 p.m. on 620WTMJ with coverage on Live at 5 and 10 on TODAY'S TMJ4
CHICAGO - Green and gold overwhelmed the Big Bar at the Hyatt on East Wacker Drive late Saturday. A cheese eating contest highlighted the Packer Backer party the night before the NFC Championship game.
Pastor Greg Jennings, Sr. - yes, father of the Packer wide receiver - asked for God to be with Green Bay. He led a prayer for the assembled crowd, "thank you for the victory of the Green Bay Packers!" Injured and sidelined running back Ryan Grant greeted fans and signed autographs. On the Packers-Bears rivalry, Grant told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray,
"I think it's great for football. It's great for the NFL when both teams are doing well, the history and tradition of it." This party was hot ahead of what is sure to be a frigid day at Soldier Field. "Mom told us to put styrofoam in our shoes to keep warm so our feet don't get cold on the concrete," said Michael Ditter of Brookfield.
Mayor Jim Schmitt of Green Bay has a ticket for the game. "We'll do some tailgating," he explained. "We'll be with some friends. This is pretty special. Weather aside, it's going to be an awesome game. I think the Packers are going to win this one." Bill Michaels, host of Sports Central on Newsradio 620 WTMJ, was emcee for the party. It was sponsored by Bell Ambulance and owner Jim Lombardo.
