Fans Hungry For Rose Bowl Tickets

MILWAUKEE COUNTY - For life long Badgers fan Justin Nichols, Saturday's game against Northwestern was a little more nerve-racking than normal.

"I was a little nervous," said Nichols.

That's because he had already bought a plane ticket to California, in lieu of buying a ticket to the 97th Rose Bowl.

"I bought the tickets last weekend after the Badgers won," he said.

Justin went online and booked a ticket for Los Angeles last week in hopes the Badgers would beat Northwestern, head to the Rose Bowl, and then he'd be right there with them.

"I was looking online at the flights and they were starting to get booked up pretty quick," he said.

That's not a surprise to travel agents.

"Demand has been hot right out of the gate," said Gina Esch with FunJet Vacations.

The Badgers barely had a chance to smell the roses from Saturday's win before Esch says Funjet was getting sacked with Rose Bowl requests.

"We put our packages up last night at 6 o'clock and already have sold over 200. Demand is definitely there," she said.

It was back in 2000 when the Badgers were last in the Rose Bowl. Esch says FunJet Vacations sold more than 3,000 packages back then and expects just as many this time around.

A typical package includes a game ticket, air and hotel fare, and transportation.

For Justin, a Rose Bowl game has been a long time coming.

He still remembers watching his parents go to the game in 2000, leaving him to watch it on TV.

This time, he's not taking any chances.

"I will not be left behind," he said. "Now, I'll have the real thing."
