Veterans Day: ROTC Cadets Honor Vets
MILWAUKEE - Veterans Day is a day to honor and thank those who have served, and are serving, our country.
For one group of Marquette students, this day will stay with them the rest of their lives.
26 new Army ROTC cadets were officially sworn in, and they took a moment to honor those who were killed in the line of duty.
It was a big moment for them, and their families.
"My family is very proud of me," said Alicia Towne, a new ROTC cadet and Marquette freshman.

"I know my older brother. He's always been into the military. To have his little sister here is a really big deal, and my mom was actually an ROTC nurse too, so I'm following in her footsteps. She's very proud."
And even more so on Veterans Day.
"That's what drives us to be indebted to those who went before us," said Brokes Wittekamper, who is also a Marquette freshman and ROTC cadet.
In a bittersweet moment, people at the ceremony gave a farewell to five ROTC members who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Four came from Marquette, while one attended UWM.
Their stories are now memorialized on a wall.
The new cadets say they are nervous, but excited, for their next journey.
