State Treasurer: Schuller Beats Sass
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A restaurant manager who promised to work to abolish the Wisconsin state treasurer's office if elected has won.
Fifty-five-year-old Republican Kurt Schuller is a former restaurant owner and manager of an Old Country Buffet in Eden. He had promised to serve only one term if elected and to work to get rid of the office, which has little power.
Schuller defeated Democrat Dawn Marie Sass, who has held the office for one term. The 51-year-old Sass is a former Milwaukee County child welfare worker and former Boston Store clerk.
With 82 precincts reporting, Schuller had 54 percent of the vote to Sass' 46 percent.
