Candidate Accused of Getting Drunk Lesbian Pregnant

MILWAUKEE - Charlette Harris, 31, is making serious and politically damaging allegations just days before the election.

She's suing David King, the Republicans' endorsed Secretary of State candidate.

Harris claims King took her to lunch at La Fuente, got her drunk, she passed out and he had sex with her.

"That's rape. That's sexual assault," Harris told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. "Now, I'm pregnant. Everything's not ok."

A doctor's note filed with the lawsuit appears to verify the pregnancy. Harris insists there are no other possible fathers.

"I'm a lesbian," she said. "I'm gay. I've been with the same woman for four years."

King is a pastor and community activist. He started the Milwaukee God Squad.

Harris says their relationship started when he got her a job at Buy Seasons in New Berlin. The online costume retailer is also named in the lawsuit.

"They allow him to do all of their hiring," she said. "They allow him to do all of their interviewing."

Buy Seasons said King has never worked for them. However, the company said he has voluntarily and informally recruited employees through the Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition.

"I don't know why Buy Seasons is being named," a company spokesperson said.

King cancelled an interview set up with TODAY'S TMJ4. He said he had been advised not to comment. He later released a statement.

"There is not truth to these accusations and the timing of these accusations are apparently politically and financially motivated," the statement says. "Today politics in Wisconsin has slithered to a new gutter low but my faith, my friends and my family are with me and his rod and his staff comfort me. The truth will be told, my reputation will be restored and my mission will go forward."

Harris said her allegations are not politically motivated.

"I'm not into politics at all," she explained. "I haven't voted in 10 years."

King's opponent, Secretary of State Doug La Follette, said he has nothing to do with the lawsuit.

The Republican Party of Wisconsin had no comment on the lawsuit.

The Milwaukee Police Department is not currently investigating King for crimes related to these claims, a spokesperson said.
