Three Mequon Schools with Mold Problems
Mold has already shut down one school in Mequon.
Now, at least one other school has mold problems because of all the rain and humidity we've had this summer.
Both Oriole Lane and Donges Bay Schools will re-open on Friday after crews had to take care of a mold issue that lots of districts have had to handle this summer and early fall.
District officials sent home a letter to parents telling them that Donges Bay School had some mold problems, and we have learned that there could be a third school in the district with a similar issue.
"Surprising" was the reaction of one of the parents to the news that another Mequon school is having mold problems.
Parent Jenny Gehr is definitely concerned, but when it comes to her children, she says, "The kids think it's fantastic."
That's because her daughter goes to Oriole Lane Elementary. That school remains closed until Friday because of mold problems.
Now, Donges Bay Elementary found mold on its choir room carpet.
That room is being cleaned, and the school will open Friday after taking Thursday off for Rosh Hashanah.
Now, the district's superintendent confirms that at Steffen Middle School, officials discovered mold on some basketballs.
Crews are testing locker room for mold, just to be safe.
Mequon isn't the only district dealing with mold.
Stone Bank Elementary in Waukesha County just reopened this week after closing down last Friday due to mold problems.
These issues were likely caused by one of the hottest and wettest summers on record.
