MILWAUKEE - The O'Donnell Park Parking structure could realistically reopen by the summer of 2011, county officials said Wednesday. It's one of seven different options being considered regarding the future of the structure.
Engineering crews had been investigating the structure ever since a large concrete slab fell from it, killing a 15-year-old Greenfield boy in June. Details of the investigation were released Wednesday morning by County Executive Scott Walker.
As first reported by TODAY'S TMJ4 HD's Aaron Diamant, the investigation found 98.5% of the panels were installed incorrectly.
County Executive Scott Walker explained that while installing the concrete, some of it cracked and was damaged. Massive work will needed to fix the problem.
"A total of 296 connections were evaulated throughout the parking structure," said Walker. "Of the 296, four connections, of fewer than 1.5% of the total, complied with the shop drawings or the upper structural connections."
The report concluded that the contractors hired to build the parking structure, J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. and Advance Cast Stone Co., were at fault.

When reached by WTMJ for reaction, Findorff and Associates offered no comment. A phone message left with Advance Cast Stone hasn't been returned.
In order to guarantee safety, Walker recommended removing all pre-cast panels.
Repairing the parking structure could cost $5.4 million, he said. The county executive included the price in his new budget proposal.
Walker said that the county may have legal recourse against J.H. Findorff & Son and Advance Cast Stone Co.
