Sheboygan Police Officer Shoots, Kills Suspect
SHEBOYGAN - A Sheboygan Police officer shot and killed a suspect early Friday morning after the man refused to drop his handgun during a traffic stop near 17th St. and Michigan Ave. in Sheboygan.
"Upon pulling over to the curb, the subject exited the vehicle and concealed his hand behind his back," said Sheboygan Police Chief Christopher Domagalski. "The officer issued commands to the subject and the subject refused to comply."
The officer then used his Taser, which failed to stop the suspect, and noticed that the man was concealing a handgun behind his back.
"The subject made a threatening motion toward the officer, and the officer fired two shots, striking the subject and stopping his actions," Domagalski added.
The suspect, 52, was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. He had an extensive criminal record and was under extended supervision. During a news conference Friday morning, Domagalski declined to identify him since his family was still being notified of his death.
The officer, 30, is a seven-year veteran of the Sheboygan Police Department
