Court Confrontation Between Victims, Stalkers
Michael George
SHEBOYGAN - For 10 months, Mary Jane Daniels and her sister Deborah Schieble received more than 50 threatening letters. Even their family members were threatened. On Wednesday, the two realtors came to court to face their stalkers during their sentencing.
It was one of the first times Daniels and Schieble met their stalkers face to face.
"He has stripped me of so much. His acts need to be punished," Mary Jane Daniels said.
David Goesch apologized and told the court why he chose Daniels, a woman he had never met before.
"I don't know how my anger turned to realtors. I saw an ad that said one could be trusted. She had 20 years experience. I wanted to trust someone," David Goesch said.
But this went beyond just stalking. David Goesch and his mentally handicapped brother Tom sent Daniels pornographic images, descriptions of her daily activities, and threats. They even sent her the date on which they would kill her. Daniels said she has had to buy a gun and was too afraid to even open her windows.
"I never felt safe going to bed, and would check under my bed 6 to 8 times a night," Daniels said.
The judge gave David one and a half years in prison, along with two years of extended supervision. Tom Goesch got probation. David said he was motivated by depression, and he never would have acted out her threats.
"It was never my intention to harm anyone but myself," Goesch said.
Tom Goesch has a diminished mental capacity so he won't receive any jail time.
