People In Whitefish Bay Don't Buy Manhole Cover Cause of 3rd Flood

  • Print

WHITEFISH BAY - People in Whitefish Bay say they're not buying village officials' explanation for a third round of basement flooding in the last month and a half.

Village staffers blamed a manhole cover.  They say someone swiped a cover along North Woodruff Avenue, probably to alleviate street flooding.

The result was about a dozen backed up basements last weekend, stuffed with sewage.  Some say street repairs in the area may be to blame.

One neighbor says he's asked around, and officers don't seem to be investigating the manhole theory.

Another neighbor says he doubts one manhole could cause all of those back-ups.

Police say they are looking into the case.
